Blue Knights Announce Partnership with Karl Hammond Design

DENVER, CO – As a leader in the marching arts, the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps is pleased to announce a new partnership with Karl Hammond Design, an instrument mouthpiece company out of Western Springs, Illinois.

“We are pleased to partner with Karl Hammond Design as a new supplier and partner to our organization,” said Jordan Helwerda, Executive Director of the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps. “The custom mouthpiece prototypes have produced outstanding quality and sound.  We welcome them to our family of Sponsor Partners.”

Karl Hammond Design manufactures a full line of brass instrument mouthpieces including trumpet, cornet, trombone and tuba with flugel horn on request. Custom services and alterations are also available for all brass instruments. Consistent manufacturing with a wide variety of features has been a main strength of Hammond Design.

Karl Hammond is recognized by players all over the world for his commitment to excellence through superior craftsmanship and professionalism. Dedication to working with the customer one-on-one to aid that musician in receiving the highest and most accurate standard or custom mouthpiece they can receive is and always will be the goal of Karl Hammond design.

The Blue Knights brass staff has been working closely with Karl Hammond Design engineers in developing new, custom-built mouthpieces for the Blue Knights horn line in the future. A custom set of Karl Hammond Design mouthpieces recently arrived in Denver during the Blue Knights all-days training camp to test out for the 2020 Drum Corps International summer national tour.

“I am so incredibly excited to work with Hammond Design for the 2020 season,” said Keith Tye, Brass Caption Head for the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps. “We believe that this is going to be an absolute game changer for the horn line this summer. Myself and the people at Karl Hammond Design have been working hard to find the best possible set up for the members. We feel that we have found a set of mouthpieces that are going to help the horn line sound better than they ever have.”
