BLUE KNIGHTS MOURNS PASSING OF HALL OF FAMER, SANDY FERRY

2018 Blue Knights Send off

DENVER, CO –  The Blue Knights family is saddened by the loss of the long-time volunteer and Blue Knights Hall of Famer, Sandy Lasley-Ferry. She passed after prolonged battle with kidney disease on Monday, August 16, 2021.  Sandy is survived by her son, Kevin, daughter-in-law, Lisa and granddaughter, Nicole.  She was an alumnus who played an important role as a member of the Blue Knights Family and will be sorely missed.

Sandy marched with the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps from 1960-1965 as a color guard performer.  Sandy has been valuable to the organization in documenting Blue Knights history, documenting the organization’s legacy and  preserving traditions.  She will be remembered for ordering and distributing the original Blue Knights member jackets (1990’s) and initiating and coordinating the Blue Knights’  Age Out “Dog Tags” (2000-2019).

Sandy has been active through the decades helping in a variety of areas with Ascend Performing Arts to include being on the Blue Knights Boosters Board of Directors (1992-2010), authored the 50th Anniversary Compendium book (2008), helped out at Friendship Cup Marching Band Competitions (2008-2019) as well as supported the main office from time-to-time.  She has served on multiple committees: Drums Along the Rockies (1996-2021), Blue Knights Hall of Fame (2018-2021), the Blue Knights’ 40th Anniversary, and Chaired the Blue Knights’ 30th Anniversary Reunion event.  Because of her dedicated efforts, Sandy was named Blue Knights Alumni of the Year (1998) and Blue Knights Booster Volunteer of the Year (2000).  In 2020, she was inducted into the Blue Knights Hall of Fame.

“We are deeply saddened by this loss within the Blue Knights family,” said Chief Executive Officer, Mark Arnold. “Sandy’s decades of selfless volunteer service with the Blue Knights made a life-long impact on thousands of young performers.”
