DENVER, CO – Events we could never imagine, until it became real. This was a devastating blow to our members AND to the financial stability of Ascend Performing Arts. All major funding sources such as Drums Along the Rockies, performance fees, and Bingo games have been canceled or
suspended.
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world for every one of us. We recognize the hard work and preparation of our members and staff, and the disappointment of all our supporters regarding the cancelations of their seasons, Drums Along the Rockies, and the other activities impacted.
The gut-wrenching decisions we have made to cancel these activities were inevitable as your health & safety must come first.
These decisions will have a major financial impact on the Blue Knights’ three ensembles, Ascend Performing Arts’ show events, and educational clinics. For 62 years we have always been responsible with our finances, however we did not plan on a global pandemic.
Simply stated, we do not have the resources to absorb the costs of canceling the summer, without your support. We are working diligently to come back stronger in 2021 and are asking our Blue Knights Alumni, Family, and Supporters for help. Together we can make it possible for members of the Blue Knights Ensembles to “March On” into 2021 and beyond! If you feel the experiences you love so much are worthy of saving, we must ALL make a commitment to make it happen.
It is as “Real” as that.
How You Can Help!
Make a one-time contribution
If you’re able to contribute, every dollar is needed and appreciated. The stimulus bill now allows a one-time, above-the-line deduction for cash contributions of up to $300. All taxpayers would be eligible to take the deduction, even people who use the standard deduction. The incentive applies to contributions made in 2020 and would be claimed on tax forms next year.
Become a Sustaining Member
Spread your donation out on a monthly basis. Small amounts add up over time and helps Ascend in the budget process.

Even though our souvenir trailer will not be on the road this summer doesn’t mean you have to miss out on getting the latest and greatest Blue Knights Gear! Every sale supports the organization directly.

Re-invest your “drum corps dollars”
Blue Knights fans are incredible and each summer they invest a lot of money into the DCI Summer Tour by supporting Ascend, Corps Encore (UT), Drums Along the Rockies-Boise Edition (ID), Drums Along the Rockies (CO) and DCI World Championships by purchasing tickets through Ascend’s site.
Please consider making the same investment in drum corps this summer by donating back your show tickets, making a contribution in the amount of your concession snacks or travel expenditures, and buying a t-shirt!
