Ascend Performing Arts is proud to announce the appointment of James Barnes as Executive Director of the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. Barnes succeeds Mark Arnold and will lead the corps as it prepares for the 2027 drum corps season and the next chapter in its storied history.

Barnes brings a distinctive combination of educational leadership, musical expertise, and operational experience to the role. Throughout his career, he has championed musical excellence and student achievement while also developing extensive experience in the student travel industry. This unique combination gives Barnes the perspective and experience to lead the artistic, educational, and logistical demands of a world-class drum corps.

For Barnes, the appointment represents both a homecoming and a new opportunity to help shape the future of an organization he has been deeply connected to for years.
