Position Summary:
The Athletic Trainer Intern works under the supervision of the Lead Athletic Trainer and Assistant Athletic Trainer to provide basic healthcare support for Blue Knights Drum Corps members. This role offers hands-on experience in injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation in a high-intensity performance setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in implementing warm-up, stretching, and injury prevention programs.
Provide hydration support and ensure members maintain proper fluid intake.
Help with basic first aid, injury assessment, and taping under supervision.
Assist in the setup and maintenance of medical equipment, supplies, and treatment areas.
Observe and support injury evaluations and rehabilitation exercises.
Educate performers on wellness, hydration, and injury prevention techniques.
Document injury reports and treatments as directed by the Lead Athletic Trainer.
Travel with the corps, gaining real-world experience in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or related program.
Basic knowledge of injury prevention, first aid, and rehabilitation techniques.
CPR and first aid certification preferred.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Willingness to learn and adapt in a physically demanding setting.
