Allen Whitfield has been a leading voice in the DCI fitness and training community since 2016. Allen established the first true full-time staff position as Athletic Trainer with the Bluecoats, playing an important role in the corps’ first-ever world championship and aiding in the beginnings of Marching Health®. Several athletes in the San Antonio area who were trained by Allen at his sports performance business, Schertz Elite Fitness, are participating in NCAA athletics today. Allen took a leave of absence from DCI for 4 years to concentrate on his career as Dean of Students at Milton B. Lee Academy of Science and Engineering, San Antonio, Texas. In 2023, Allen returned to DCI with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, witnessing their return to the finals. Before DCI, Allen Served as an infantry officer in the United States Army, earning the Bronze Star Medal for his service in locations around the world. Allen is a graduate of Clemens HS in Schertz, TX, where he was an all-state tuba player, drum major, and John Phillip Sousa Award recipient, and varsity baseball captain. At Texas State University (SWT), Allen marched in the Bobcat Marching Band for 3 years, was principle tuba in the university’s symphony orchestra, a member of the wind ensemble, and a member of the first SWT Kappa Kappa Psi pledge class. His 3 children are embracing successful careers at Amazon (Seattle), Scholastic Books, and The University of Texas.
