Ascend Performing Arts is excited to announce the appointment of James Barnes as Assistant Director of the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. James brings years of experience in music education, drum corps and the student travel industry to Ascend.

Prior to joining the Blue Knights, Barnes served for 10 years as Director of Bands including positions at Blythewood, SC High School and Timber Creek High School in Fort Worth, TX. James is currently Director of Operations at Perform America, a custom student tour and concert event company. Additionally, James is no stranger to the drum corps activity having served as a member of the Blue Knights brass staff and as the Brass Caption Head of Music City in Nashville, TN.

Barnes’ addition to the administrative team of Ascend marks a significant step forward for the Blue Knights as it continues to expand its impact upon performing arts and youth education.
