Make Space for the Future
It’s time to replace our aging and overstuffed Equipment Trailer!
Learn more about our new “space” and how you can get involved.
Expanding our Convoy
The new Semi-Trailer will be our main vehicle for both the Drum Corps and winter Percussion Ensemble. Over ninety brass instruments, all percussion, colorguard equipment and supplies will be designed with greater ease-of-use compared to our previous trailer. Custom, light-weight aluminum steps and a ramp are being built. The trailer will feature LED lighting and custom vinyl wrap to complement our Blue Knights food trailer!
There are many ways to donate and sponsor parts of the Semi-Trailer. Please check out the fundraising page on Classy to learn more, or contact our Development Director, Thelma Fung.
Since today’s 160+ member drum corps cannot fit into one trailer, we will be expanding with two smaller, specialized trailers:
The Uniform Trailer will benefit all the drum corps members and volunteers to have independent access to uniforms, greatly reducing traffic on the Semi-Trailer. We are retrofitting a 14′ trailer that we already own with storage, lighting, and improved ventilation. This trailer will be towed by the motorhome dedicated to volunteers on tour.
The Audio Trailer will bring much easier loading for the heavy speakers, audio gear, synthesizers, generator, plus the main conductor’s podium. This new 20′ trailer will be towed by the corps pickup truck, which will enable maneuvering this heavy equipment closer to many rehearsal sites and shows. The Audio Trailer will be a multi-purpose trailer that can also be used for Indoor Winds or Percussion in the future.
How You Can Help
DONATE TO OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL
Our doors are wide open for you to give! Your generosity will make a difference for the future quality of the Blue Knights ensembles. The goal for this year is $60,000 to build out the Semi-Trailer, Audio Trailer, and Uniform Trailer. Both one-time and monthly donations are options to help us meet our goal by the end of this year.
JOIN THE TRAILER BUILDING CREW
In the Denver area, we are seeking volunteers immediately for the handy-work of building out the trailers. Work times will be on weekdays and weekends, coordinated by Evan Woods. Some projects will be completed after the corps moves-in at their rehearsal location.
What skills are needed? Basic familiarity of working with wood, cutting metal channel (Uni-Strut) and/or electrical will be appreciated. We are in need of some lead volunteers who have significant building experience.
