Alumni Spotlight: Kosin Suepbrasitwong

Name:

Kosin Suebprasitwong

What year(s) did you march in the Blue Knights?
2003

Where did you attend high school?
Boonwattana High School in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand. I was a member of the Marching Band for 6 years all that time in school!

Education beyond high school?
I studied music at College of Music Mahidol University in Thailand for 2 years before I took off to the United States to join the Blue Knights.

What is your current occupation?
I have my own business on website development and travel assistance and also a construction company. In addition, I take care of the Marching Band events and shows in Thailand. I am also the President of the Marching Band Association of Thailand, for the international organization I also be the Chief Executive Officer of World Marching Band Organization, the organization that is corporate and working for the Marching Band around the world.

Why did you choose to march with the Blue Knights?
I liked the Uniform! I also liked the style of the Blue Knights shows.  The Blue Knights staff were very good and helped me learn how to be an excellent musician and performer. This was especially helpful for me as someone from another country.

What is your favorite drum corps memory?
Touring with the Blue Knights on the DCI summer national tour is my most memorable memory. I never knew that joining the Blue Knights would take me to so many places and meet a lot of people along the way. This experience with the Blue Knights opened me up to a whole new world that I never thought I would do before.

How have the Blue Knights impacted your life?
I can say the Blue Knights changed my life. I learned a lot of things with the Blue Knights, not only with music and being a better performer but also how to manage an organization or business.  I also learned how to work with people on a team.  I brought back everything I learned with the Blue Knights back to Thailand and started to develop a Marching Arts community. Today, I have the biggest marching band and drum and bugle corps competition in Asia.  I could not have met so many people in the world of DCI and BOA if it were not for the Blue Knights.

What are some of the Blue Knights’ core values/principles that have resonated with you in life?
The Blue Knights taught me about responsibility; that is very important for me in my life now. Blue Knights taught me how to work hard, respect each other, and work together on a team.  They also helped me be a good person who can work with everyone.

What advice would you tell someone considering trying out for the Blue Knights?
The Blue Knight are not just another drum corps but are a big family that you can always count on to support you not matter what challenges you face in life. The Blue Knights always remember who you are (our alumni). And they teach you how to give value to yourself and your community.  They will make you will proud to tell  everyone “I am Blue Knight for life!”

How would you like to see other Blue Knight alumni get involved in the organization?

The Blue Knights alumni is very important for the organization. Our alumni can promote the Blue Knights of today and tell people about how our experiences shape us as a person. As alumni, we can help keep the Blue Knights organization going as we are stronger together.
