Position Summary:
The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports the Lead Athletic Trainer in providing healthcare services to Blue Knights Drum Corps members. This role assists in injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and overall physical wellness of performers throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in developing and implementing injury prevention programs, including warm-ups, stretching, and conditioning.
Provide on-site first aid and injury assessment during rehearsals and performances.
Support the rehabilitation and recovery of injured performers under the guidance of the Lead Athletic Trainer.
Maintain and organize medical supplies, first aid kits, and hydration stations.
Educate members on best practices for physical wellness, hydration, and injury prevention.
Collaborate with instructional staff to adjust physical demands for injured members as needed.
Travel with the corps throughout the tour, ensuring continuous medical support.
Document and track injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation progress.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field.
Certified or working toward certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) preferred.
Current CPR and first aid certification required.
Experience working with athletes, dancers, or performers in physically demanding activities.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work long hours and travel extensively during the tour.
