Jose Coronado
Jose Coronado is in his third year as the Assistant Band Director at Pasadena Memorial High School. In this role, he directs the Symphonic Band and the Freshman Brass class. He also assists with the Cadet Band and the Mighty Maverick Marching Band. Under Mr. Coronado’s direction, the Symphonic Band received superior ratings at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest last spring. Additionally, the Mighty Maverick Marching Band is a consistent UIL Area qualifier, and in 2023 they made history by advancing to the finals of the contest for the first time since the school opened in 2003.
Jose received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Sam Houston State University in the Fall of 2020. During his time at Sam Houston, he was a member of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Bearkat Marching Band, and the Angry Orange Brass Band, where he served as the principal horn. He also played mellophone for the Santa Clara Vanguard from 2016-2018, a tenure during which the corps ended a 19-year championship drought by taking home the gold medal in 2018.
In his personal time, he enjoys the company of friends and family, playing video games, and watching various sports such as football, basketball, and soccer. He currently resides with his girlfriend, Jenny, and their three cats: Milo, Hedwig, and Ellie.
