Peter Bates is a visual designer for the pageantry arts with clients across the United States and Canada. Based in Utah, he is a designer, clinician, and instructor for some of the best marching ensembles in the country. He is the visual designer and caption head for the American Fork High School Marching Band.

Peter marched five years with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, where he aged out as the horn sergeant in 2017. He went on to play cymbals with Matrix in 2018, and, since then has been involved with drum corps and WGI percussion ensembles as an instructor and designer. Peter is the drill writer, as well as the lighting and video designer for Matrix. He has also taught on the visual team with the Boston Crusaders since 2022.

Peter loves to spend time with his wife, Kaitlyn, and their cat, Delilah.
