Whitney Stone
Whitney Stone is from Sylva, North Carolina, and graduated from Smoky Mountain High School in 2003. She danced from a very young age and played flute through high school, joining Color Guard in her sophomore year.
Upon graduating from high school, she marched Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, 2003 to 2007. In the 2006/2007 season, she served as captain. In 2007, the guard was 2nd place at DCI, coming incredibly close to winning the prestigious Zingali Award.
She marched with the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band at Western Carolina University from 2003 to 2005, assuming the role of co-captain in 2005. She marched with The Study IW winter guard in 2004-2005 and First Flight IO in 2006.
Following her passion, she relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana, immersing myself further in the color guard community by joining the renowned Pride of Cincinnati. She marched with them in 2007, celebrating a World Championship victory, and in 2008, took silver. In 2009, she marched with Zydeco IW.
Throughout her journey, she has had the privilege of teaching and directing numerous groups, including tech and choreography Carmel SW (2012 BOA Grand National Champion and ISSMA State Champs, 2013 IHSCGA State and World Champions; 2013 ISSMA state runner-up, BOA Silver Medalists, IHSCGA State Champs, and WGI Silver Medalists). She have also directed at Center Grove HS, New Palestine HS. taught at Northview HS, Lawrence Central HS, Greenfield Central HS, Decatur Central HS, and had the opportunity to work with esteemed drum and bugle corps like the Troopers (2009 DCI finalists), Crossmen (2012-2017), and the Madison Scouts (2014). My teaching experience extends to various groups in Indiana and Ohio. She taught Zydeco 2011-2013.
Since moving to Texas in 2015, she’s taught at Bridgeland HS (current) Round Rock HS (Director), Austin High School (Director), Lake Travis (Director), Vista Ridge, Anderson, Cedar Ridge, Hendrickson, Rouse, Hebron, Moe and Gene Johnson, Westwood, Brazoswood, Marcus, Hutto HS, as well as ATX and Origins Winter Guard.
