Michael Williams

Michael Williams is a percussionist, performer, and prominent music educator located in Northern Colorado. He earned his B.A. in Music Education from Colorado State University, where he developed an array of performance experience under the instruction of Dr. Eric Hollenbeck and Shilo Stroman.

With over a decade of experience, Michael is a highly sought-after marching arts and percussion instructor. He is currently in his 13th year as the Director of Percussion and Assistant Band Director at Loveland High School. He also serves as the Battery Caption Head for the Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble, a role he has held for eight years, and the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps, where he is in his tenth year. Additionally, Michael was a battery consultant for the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, helping them during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Michael’s performing career began in high school, where he helped Northglenn High School win the inaugural WGI Fan Favorite Award in 2010, as well as two finalist finishes in WGI Scholastic World, under the instruction of Scott Reno and Dave and Kathy Marvin. He went on to play snare drum for the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps in 2012 and 2014, taught by Kevin Welborn, Derek Fields, David Reeves, Paul Rennick, Lauren Teel, and Jesus Sanchez. He also marched with the Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble from 2013 to 2015, taught by Alex Entin, Aaron Garrison, Tim Lundberg, and Dan Allen. Michael has also performed as a member of the Denver Nuggets Skyline, Colorado Avalanche, and Denver Broncos Stampede drumlines. As an educator, his influence has helped ensembles achieve top-tier success, including many state championships and top-three finishes in CBA and RMPA. He even helped Dakota Ridge High School win first place in PCO at the 2015 WGI World Championships. Michael is excited to continue growing the state and communities he teaches!
