DENVER, CO – The Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps held their first 3-day Training Camp weekend for the 2015 season at Rachel B. Noel Middle School in Denver, Colorado over the February 20-22 weekend.  The weekend was specifically focused as a training camp for the brass section.  The percussion and color guard sections were not required to attend this camp or March Camp to allow those members to participate in the Winter Guard International activity.  The Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble also held their training rehearsals at the middle school as well.
“Not only was this was a very productive camp for the horn line but it was a great opportunity to share the camp with our award-wining Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble,” said Mark Arnold, Executive Director, Ascend Performing Arts and the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps. “There are so many benefits with a combined training camp that we plan on holding more to allow our members to learn more about our other ensembles and events as well as make new friends.”

A big “thank you” goes out to our combined camp food donors and volunteers (from both Blue Knights ensembles) who helped ensure this camp was a huge success.  It was nice to have a mix of families from both ensembles helping out.  The cold wintry weather and road conditions didn’t stop them from coming out to work additional shifts.  Their efforts are greatly appreciated.
Interested in giving the Blue Knights a hand? We are looking for volunteers to help at the March 13-15 Training Camp (also combined DBC and PE groups).  Sign-up at http://bit.ly/15BKMarchCamp.
“I’m very excited about what the drum corps is doing but more so sharing the weekend with the Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble,” said Myles Giller, Blue Knights drum major. “It was great to see where BKPE is heading with their season and getting to know them during our downtime; it was an opportunity most drum corps don’t have.”
