DENVER, CO – The Blue Knights Winds are excited to announce their 2020 instructional team for the visual caption.
Last year’s ensemble was a Silver medalist in independent Open class at the 2019 Winter Guard International Winds World Championships.
“We will be expanding the size of our ensemble in 2020 and we have an educational team assembled to provide a world-class level of instruction for our members,” said Jeff DesMarteau, Blue Knights Winds Visual Caption Head. “Together with the design of Rob Billings, we should be able to produce a very memorable and high-quality visual product this season.”
New to the team this year is Russ Carroll as a Movement Specialist.
“We wanted to bring in someone who could help take our dance training for our musicians to the next level as well as provide more direct instruction to our movement ensemble,” said Jeff DesMarteau. “Russ is really the perfect person for the job. He has a wealth of experience in the color guard activity but also knows the intricacies of doing dance while playing an instrument.”
Also providing visual instruction are Lane Albee, Jason Shin, Brook Peckham, and Sydney Brown.
“All of our visual staff have experience participating in Drum Corps International and are successful band instructors and designers locally,” said Jeff DesMarteau. “We really are quite lucky to have their talent and expertise.”
There is still time to join the Blue Knights Winds! Auditions for the 2020 Blue Knights Winds ensemble will take place on November 10th and 17th for brass and woodwinds at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in northeast Denver. There will also be an audition for percussionists on December 8th. The group rehearses exclusively on weekends. Registration information is available at BKWinds.org
