Helwerda named Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps Director

DENVER, CO – Ascend Performing Arts is pleased to announce Jordan Helwerda as Executive Director of the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps.

Jordan Helwerda becomes the 11th Executive Director in the Blue Knights’ long history of performance excellence dating back to 1958. He will be taking over for Mark Arnold who will continue in his role as Chief Executive Officer for Ascend Performing Arts, the parent organization of the Blue Knights ensembles.

“Jordan has proven himself as a leader in our organization and DCI,” said Mark Arnold, CEO of Ascend Performing Arts. “His focus has always been centered on creating a positive experience for the members, both as drum major and as Assistant Director. His enthusiasm, business sense, and great interpersonal skills make him a perfect fit for this position. I look forward to working with Jordan for many years to come!”

Jordan served as drum major for the Blue Knights from 2008 to 2010 and returned as Tour Manager in 2011. In 2015, Jordan was promoted to Assistant Director, working directly with Mark Arnold and the Blue Knights design and educational staffs to ensure every performer had an amazing experience.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to become more involved in an organization that I have been deeply passionate about for years,” said Jordan. “Being a part of the Blue Knights as a member has taught me so much about myself and prepared me with the skills to be successful in my professional life. I truly see the value that drum corps provides young adults and am happy to provide that experience to today’s youth.”

Please join us in welcoming Jordan Helwerda as the Executive Director of the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps!
