A Letter from the Director |
The return of the drum corps and the return of the Blue Knights was never a given. It took fighting for it, it took patience, it took ingenuity, and it took a whole lot of brute force effort as well as financial support from countless people to *make* it happen. To be a part of that effort from the bitter, uncertain beginning all the way through to the very end was an experience for me comparable to no other.
This past season, 2021, was a story of perseverance, of patience, of sacrifice, and of love. What it has taken of both this organization and of every single performer is nothing short of inspiring.
It’s truly a blessing to be here, and to be bringing so much into the world of what has desperately been needed – both for our performers and for the crowds there to see them.
If you know me, even from afar, you know how much I love and am dedicated to this organization. So much of my young adulthood, personality, so many of my closest relationships, greatest moments, and just… *me* has been and continues to be defined in the very best of ways by my time with the Blue Knights as a member, drum major, staff member and now director. I know for certain I’m far from the only person who has been so defined by the Blue Knights.
I see it as important to not only uphold the legacy of positive impact this organization has on the lives of young people but to constantly, always, be working to build it even further.
I truly believe in the life-changing ability of the drum corps (and marching arts) experience. I truly believe in the life-changing ability of the drum corps (and marching arts) experience, but I know we can’t make these life-changing experiences happen without your support. The Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps has impacted generations of young performers in the last 63 years, and we plan to continue that far into the future. Every ounce of your support goes to ensuring that future for those generations of Blue Knights to come.
Sincerely,
Daniel Belcher
Executive Director
