Thomas Kober is the Director of Bands at William J. Brennan High School in San Antonio, Texas and currently holds the positions of Ensemble Coordinator and Brass Caption Head with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. During his tenure at Brennan High School, he has spearheaded a band program that has consistently achieved a distinguished reputation for excellence. The program has garnered numerous accolades, including a near-decade of superior ratings, best in class distinctions, and championship titles at district, regional, area, statewide, and national events. The band is recognized as both a TMEA Area Honor Band Finalist and a UIL Area Marching Band Finalist, in addition to being honored as a National Featured Band at the Music for All National Festival in both 2020 and 2023.
Before assuming his roles with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, Mr. Kober built an extensive and impressive background in Drum Corps International (DCI) and Winterguard International (WGI). Notably, he served as the Music Caption Head of the Blue Knights Winds, leading the ensemble to a Silver Medal at WGI Finals in Dayton, Ohio. Preceding his tenure with the Blue Knights Winds, he contributed to the music instructional staff of the Santa Clara Vanguard and Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Kober is also an active clinician, judge, program coordinator, and designer, offering his expertise to bands across the United States. His professional affiliations include membership in the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association. As an alumnus of the Blue Knights, he takes immense pride in the achievements of the organization in 2023, which secured a return to DCI World Class Finals, and is enthusiastic about his ongoing collaboration with his ‘home team’ and the exceptional educators and students within it.
